I BRING YOU A VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM MY MAKEUP COLLECTION - I HAVE FOUND AN EVERYTHING-PROOF LIP PRODUCT, AND A LIPLINER TO MATCH!
Now that we've gotten the melodramatic caps-fueled mania out of the way, I shall elaborate. Make Up For Ever Canada was kind enough to send me two products from their new Aqua Collection for summer - a long-wearing liquid lipstick with included clear gloss called Aqua Rouge, and an accompanying lip liner called Aqua Lip, both in the shade 19C (Pomegranate Pink). Here are the product descriptions from Make Up For Ever:
With five new vibrant shades in #16 Fuschia, #19 Pomegranate Pink, #20 Baby Pink, #17 Bright Coral, and #18 Coral, this long-wear lip color is perfect for the summer months. Use the highly pigmented liquid lip color alone or top it with the clear gloss to create beautiful, non-transferable, kiss-proof, and smudge-proof lips. A combination of high molecular weight polymers and volatile oils work to lock color on lips while providing full coverage.
Prep your lips with the perfect complement to Aqua Rouge in two eye-catching new shades.
Aqua Lip will brighten your lip color and lock in smudge-proof properties. Using evaporating silicone emollients that allow the pigment to glide onto the skin and set, this creamy, matte lip pencil can be used to outline or fill in lips for your desired look.
Bellissimo! Very exciting. Once these bad boys arrived in the mail (with a lovely handwritten note, which was very much appreciated) I tore them open and cackled with glee. Most people may not cackle with glee, but I digress. It's taken me far too long to get this post up due to an unsightly blemish and in turn, an unsightly scar (TMI?) just above my lip. That would not make for choice lip swatches, I think you'd agree. Although it may not have been ideal to take pictures, I still wore the products - at first to try them out, then around the house because I loved them so much, and eventually to work because I needed to show them off. I got several compliments on my lip colour that day! :)
Firstly let me address the Aqua Lip. I've always had trouble finding lip liners that aren't waxy/hard and don't cause my lips to look terrible, even after exfoliation. This product is ideal for anyone who shares my woes. It glides on so smoothly, gives incredible pigmentation, doesn't dry out the lips, and keeps colour from bleeding. This applies to both the Aqua Rouge and regular lipsticks - the colour "Pomegranate Pink" is an excellent match to wear beneath MAC's Love Goddess lipstick from their Marilyn Monroe collection. It wore way longer than normal with Aqua Lip beneath it! I'd really love to pick up some more shades...with my hard time finding lip liners that work for me, why bother straying from a formula that I know will work? Here's a picture of just the liner on my lips:
Onto Aqua Rouge (which has the lip colour on one side and a clear gloss on the other). I was initially wary to try this product, given that the only thing like it I've ever tried were some of my mom's Covergirl Outlast lipsticks when I was younger and they were terrible! They were so drying and almost impossible to remove. Needless to say, Aqua Rouge is leaps and bounds away from that...stuff. It feels pleasant on the lips, doesn't cause them to look wrinkly or to feel tight. After it sets, this stuff wears like iron - I had bacon, eggs and pancakes this morning while wearing this (no shame, by the way) and it didn't move. Plus, it's kiss-proof. Don't ask me how I know, I just..I phoned the lab. It wore perfectly all through work, and when I took it off my lips didn't feel terrible afterwards! I wasn't super difficult to get off, either. I'd recommend a dual-phase makeup remover, or one make specifically for removing lip products.
Enough babble, have some pictures! (P.S. - the colour of the products is the truest in the second swatch picture!)
